Central Park Boathouse Commissions

This past year the iconic Central Park Boathouse restaurant went under a renovation and rebrand by Friends and Family Design Firm, who graciously reached out to me and shared their vision for the space.

I was commissioned to create 10 pieces inspired from my Nest, Tulips, Lilies and Bird series. All which play a role in the beautiful eco-system of Central Park.

Birds especially are important to the Parks bird watching community, that was one of the first piece are started on, my bird series takes times due to all the layering of colors involved.

All the different odes to the parks beauty is what made this commission so special, I felt like I was able to capture what was just right outside the restaurant doors but also add my touch.

As a person who used to summer near the park, I clearly remember the tulip beds all along the walk way, the vibrance they brought to the park and the people constantly stopping to admire them.

'Colors Of Sunday' Nest // Paintings + Works On Paper

'Colors Of Sunday' was an ode to my daughter Sunday Clementine, who was born last October. It marked my return to art postpartum, helping me strike a balance between motherhood and my creative passion. The two are inseparable in my life.

'Colors Of Sunday' 60x60

Each Nest series that I paint I always create one Nest painting on a 60x60 canvas, this allows me celebrate the messiness of love. With this series, I want play to be the driving force. Letting the marks layer on top of each other reacting to each new mark. Creating a story of life through my mark-making. Creating a perfect nest out of imperfect marks.

My son and I are collaborated on 'The Missing Piece' during a after school visit to the studio. Having my children as brought a fresh perspective to my recent series, allowing my art to take on new significance as my children become part of the story behind it.

It's amazing to witness the growth of Sunday from the start of my work on the series until its release day. These moments hold a special place in my heart, and I'm grateful that my art allows me to reflect upon them.

Architectural Digest Commission

Creating three commissioned pieces for Basic Projects and my close friends Brad and Felicia Taylor last year was an incredible opportunity and a honor. It's truly exciting when a series of artworks can continue to evolve through commissions, and even more so when they are featured in Architectural Digest.

Prior to starting the Magnolias, I had the opportunity to do a walk through with the Taylors and have a detailed conversation about their vision for these artworks. We delved into their desired essence and atmosphere, and how they wished the art to create a serene ambiance in the room.

This commission was inspired by my 'Late Summer Bloom' Magnolia series, the request came a few weeks after the series release, so it was very enjoyable to revisit them and create these flowers on a smaller scale.

A few years ago, I painted a lamp for my son's room and loved the way it accessorized his room. So I was very excited to begin on this third commission piece. The colors perfectly enhance the room's details and immediately draw your attention when you walk in. This room exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere that I absolutely adore.

This will always remain one of my favorite project because it involved friends, community and AD. All of my favorite things!

2023- Year In Review

A little late to my 2023 review, it was a busy year!

Full of new art, projects and a baby! We welcomed our daughter Sunday 'Sunny' McCutchen in October. This year's series were influenced by family, play on colors, and creating pieces that reminded me of my 'roots'. Below are a few highlights that made my year!

Started off the year with a special commission, 4 large works for the Charleston Place Grill. I will always cherish these pieces and the opportunity to create pieces that this community can enjoy.

Framed some 'Love Birds', I got such wonderful response to these works on paper, I can not wait to start on this series in the new year. While this series sold out fast, there are some 'Love Bird' Screen Prints still in stock.

In March, Spring sprung in the studio with the release of my 'Spring Tulips', I always love painting my tulip series because it means Spring has arrived.

This 48 x 60 piece, 'Taking Me Back To You' is still available.

Then summer was here before you knew it and so was my Lily series, the studio was blooming once again.

and Baby Girl was on the way!

July was spent with family in Maine. It was nice to escape the heat wave that the south is in the late summer months, we will always try to keep Maine in our Summer plans.

I was also able to create a new series called 'Fruit Still Life', this was inspired by the

urge to feed and cook my family nourishing foods.

Then we were back in Charleston and back to school, and early fall always brings magnolias.

All three of these beauties are still available here.

October came and brought us Sunny!

We finished out the year with a release of 'Late Summer Bloom' Magnolia screen prints, I have to say that these might be my favorite magnolias that we have done so far!

'Late Summer Bloom' Magnolias // Paintings + Works on Paper

I love when the season change and Magnolias burst into bloom outside my studio, as it signals the perfect time for me to begin painting one of my most cherished series. This year's 'Late Summer Bloom' Magnolias collection was brimming with the vibrant hues of summer.

'Afternoon Walk Down an Old Dirt Road' captures the essence of summer - from the heat to the refreshing coolness of a magnolia tree's shade. The magnolia flower is brought to life in such a way that it will leave you feeling like your right there on that dirt road.

'Fruit Still Life' // Paintings + Works on Paper

Inspiration for my 'Fruit Still Life' series came from my time spent in Cape Elizabeth, Maine this summer.

This was a new series for me and I enjoyed being able to create pieces that stemmed from my daily life. This summer I focused on health especially through food, which was easy since I always had fresh fruit around.

Fruit Still Life No.4 is still available, for all those cherry lovers out there!

"Taste of Summer' went quick but Fruit Still Life No.3 is very similar and available!

'Day Lilies' // Paintings + Works on Paper

I found inspiration for my Day Lilies series in my personal garden this year. I was drawn to the yellow lily especially.

"Painting my Garden" which is a 40x60 was one of the last pieces I created for this series, I love her details and mixture of color. Makes me feel that I am at home in my garden.

Day Lily No.2 is still available! I enjoy creating on paper, with this series I painted on some pieces that had a pink tint to them, which I felt went nicely with the color tones of this series.

I also enjoy being to take some of my pieces out of the studio and play around with them on different walls!

' Spring Tulips' // Painting + Works on Paper

I was very influenced by the change of the season here in Charleston this year. Spring was in the air the day canvases arrived to start this series.

I love painting on gsm paper, each one turns out different than the last and I feel that the paper adds character to the piece. This purple beauty is available here.

The color selection was very ideal for this series! Pink was one of the main colors used. I love the way that pink brightens one of my larger pieces "Fading into you"

Charleston Grill // Large Scale Commissions

I know that 2023 has just begun but these large pieces will be one of my favorite parts of this year. It was such a special experience.

This piece was in my top 2, the landscape of dark browns, taupes, orches, moody stood out to me. I envisioned this piece having so many stories and loved how the colors all came together.

I was reminded on how inspirational creating these large scale pieces can be.

This landscape piece has several shades of earthy deep blues.

'Love Birds'// Works On Paper

My 'Love Birds' Series made it just in time for Valentines Day!

Their toes intertwined and they are almost kissing is my favorite part of these 'Love Birds'.

Someone told me that a therapist here in Charleston has some 'Love Birds' in her office and uses them as an example on how they should look at their partners.
