Domino x Raven Roxanne: "The Dreamy Pool Is Just a Bonus at This 1875 Home on the Best Block in Charleston"

November 13, 2022

"Built in 1875 with sweeping rooms and 13-foot-high ceilings (14 on the second floor), the property could easily accommodate a soon-to-be growing family (their son, English, now 1, arrived a few years later)."

From my "Tulip" Series adding a shade of yellow the room. Still have a few "Tulips" available here.

This is the Nest that hangs in our family room. This series has fascinated me for the last 10 years. I wanted this new collection of Nest to have space and messiness in them.

I worked on the series during the summer of 2022.

Color inspiration from the streets of New York into my studio.

Working through each piece trying to capture the fullness of the bloom married with the boldness of the leaves.

Jane Pope x Raven Roxanne
Raven Roxanne first met jewelry designer Jane Pope nearly a decade ago, when Raven’s husband worked with Jane to create her engagement ring. Years later, the two became studio mates at Slate Studios in Charleston, South Carolina, where they continued to admire and find inspiration in one another’s work. With practices rooted in modernism, both artists are drawn to playfulness and Old World softness, their styles complementing each other naturally.

Over time, Raven and Jane’s relationship has evolved into one of mutual respect and deep friendship. Ever supportive in the studio, the artists have also anchored one another through life’s shifting stages. With several parallel experiences, Jane could often bring wisdom to what Raven was walking through, offering encouragement with humor and grace. When Raven returned to the studio after the birth of her first child, she found a familiar confidant in Jane, who could bring a new perspective to motherhood — This new chapter in life brought the two even closer and with it, a new spark of inspiration.
Conceived early in Raven’s motherhood, Falling Tulips breathed new life into the artists’ studios. Marrying Raven’s tulip motif — a theme that appears often in her paintings with Jane’s unique wax molding and gold casting process, the collaboration felt organic from the start. Featuring four pairs of earrings and three necklaces, the collection captures tulips not at their most pristine, but at varying stages of growth and imperfection. Together, the pieces represent the beauty of evolution, and the value of growing together — not unlike the artists’ relationship itself.

Lilies in Bloom// Paintings + Works on Paper

April 12, 2022

This series was a continuation of a series of lilies I painted years ago in France. When coming back from maternity leave I wanted some thing that was both new but familiar.

Part of this series consist of a mixed media painting on cream paper, made in France.

I always start on paper then move to canvas.

2021 - Year in Review

December 30, 2021

As 2021 is coming to a close, I wanted to reflect on all that happened this past year! 2021 felt like a big year for me and my work, especially as we welcomed our baby boy, English, into the world! Below are a few highlights that made my year!

No. 1 - Love Bird Prints

These 'Love Bird' prints were made just in time for Valentine's Day and flew off the walls! Should I paint more 'Love Birds' this upcoming year?

No. 2 - Girls with Flowers  + Baby Reveal

I reinvented my 'Girls with Flowers' by adding a vessel full of tulips to each painting and it was so fun introducing a new shape to this beloved series. I also announced that Willie was going to be a big brother!

No. 3 - Magnolias - Paintings, Works on Paper + Screen Prints

I have been loving painting 'Magnolias' in the summertime and this year was no different. This fragrant flower resonates with many and it inspired one of the silk scarves I designed.

No. 4 - Baby Boy Arrived!

Thomas English McCutchen V arrived on August 25th!

No. 5 - Falling Tulips

Before maternity leave, I painting these flowers on raw canvas, which is always an exciting and challenging material to work on.

No. 6 - Silk Scarves

One of my biggest projects! I had dreamt of making these silk scarves for a long time and I love how they turned out. These scarves allowed my artwork to take a new form and I hope they bring color to your everyday!

Thank you for another wonderful year!
